Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

Rotork has been working with BAE Systems to upgrade a series of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which function penstocks controlling movement of ships between the sea and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A sequence of A-range actuators had reached the tip of their operational life after long service in a difficult setting. BAE Systems wanted to retain all the advantages of electrical actuators, so IQ3 actuators were chosen. These needed to be specifically adapted by Rotork to overcome problems round confined spaces and troublesome access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes have been mechanically adapted in order that each actuator and gearbox could be manually operated without coming into the confined area. เกจ์วัดความดัน designed special hand auto levers and thru drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to eliminate the need for confined house access.
Actuators inside the IQ range are watertight, offering ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. They have an advanced dual stacked display with configurable information logger performance, and an absolute place sensor provides reliability and accuracy.
